Conspiracy Theories
When I was 23 years old and newly married, my wife and I managed the American Opinion Bookstore in Provo, Utah. One of the books we carried was  “None Dare Call It Conspiracy” by Gary Allen
cover none dare call it conspiracy
“This book is a primer for anyone who wishes to understand the basic workings of the global network of Insiders that is determined to wield power over all of mankind in the coming New World Order. The Special Edition is updated with illustrations and charts for 2013. Introduction by U.S. Congressman John G. Schmitz: The story you are about to read is true. The names have not been changed to protect the guilty. This book may have the effect of changing your life. After reading this book, you will never look at national and world events in the same way again.”
“By sheer volume, the “experts” will try to ridicule you out of investigating for yourself as to whether or not the information in this book is true. They will ignore the facts, saying that the author is about to conjecture. They will find a typographical error or argue some point that is open to debate. If necessary they will lie in order to protect themselves by smearing this book. I believe those who pooh-pooh the information herein because psychologically many people would prefer to believe we are fine, because we all like to ignore bad news. We do so at our own peril.”

Why did he say that?
Are there conspiracies that intend to do evil for power and gain in the world ?
What does the word conspiracy mean?
Recently a woman emailed me that she didn’t read “conspiracy theories”.
Implying that something that she refers to as a “conspiracy theory” isn’t true.
Let’s examine the word and what it means.
Conspiracy: : the act of conspiring together
What does conspiring mean: as a transitive verb it means to PLOT, to CONTRIVE;
as an intransitive verb it means 1a: to join in a secret agreement to do an unlawful or wrongful act or 2: an act which becomes unlawful as a result of the secret agreement,
examples: being accused of conspiring to overthrow the government or to conspired to monopolize and restrict trade
b: SCHEME
2: to act in harmony toward a common end
Examples: Circumstances conspired to defeat his efforts.
… the sun and the wind conspired to make splinters out of solid wood.
— B. J. Oliphant
To scheme to obtain wealth at all costs.
This woman believes that there are no secret agreements, evil or other wise, that exist in the world today.
Let us look at what the Book of Mormon has to say about secret agreements.
Wikipedia states that secret combinations as outlined in the Book of Mormon:
A term that describes a malignant secret society of “people bound together by oaths to carry out the evil purposes of the group.” Secret combinations were first discussed in the Book of Mormon, which was published in 1830 by Joseph Smith. The most notable example of a secret combination is the Gadianton robbers, a conspiracy throughout much of the narrative of the Book of Mormon. According to the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible, Cain also entered a secret combination with Satan and became Master Mahan.
The Book of Mormon denounces secret combinations as “most abominable and wicked above all, in the sight of God.” They are also considered to be one of the signs that a people is ripe for the Lord’s vengeance, and according to the Book of Mormon, in the last days, they will be prevalent on the earth.
Moroni also warns that the Gentiles of the latter day should repent of their sins and not allow that “murderous combinations get above you, which are built up to get power and gain.” Moroni goes on to warn that anyone who builds up a secret combination “seeketh to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people, for it is built up by the devil, who is the father of all lies.”
What are secret societies?
Definition of secret society: any of various oath-bound societies often devoted to brotherhood, moral discipline, and mutual assistance
Wikipedia continues:
Moroni tells an example of a secret combination in the story of a son, Jared, who rebels against his father Omer, the Jaredite king of the land. After trying once and not succeeding in the overthrow of his father, Jared’s daughter tells him of the power of conspiracy and refers to ancient writings of “secret plans to obtain kingdoms and great glory.” She devises a plan to establish her father as ruler of the land, telling him that she can dance for Akish, a man of authority, and entice him. If Akish is pleased with her and desires to wed her, as a condition he must agree to deliver the head of Jared’s father, King Omer. To fulfill Jared’s wish, Akish forms a circle of men who swear upon their lives that they will never divulge the secret, their plot, or the identities of their brethren. To join the secret group, one has to perform a series of oaths administered by Akish. Moroni explains that the promises or covenants are “kept up by the power of the devil” through the ages.
After finishing the account, Moroni tells of the effect the secret combination had upon the nation: “They have caused the destruction of this people of whom I am now speaking, and also the destruction of the people of Nephi.”
Another group said to be practicing secret combinations in the Book of Mormon are the Gadianton robbers.
What about today? Were these just stories of the past?
Modern LDS prophets, President and councilors, the 12 Apostles and the Patriarch are sustained generally twice yearly, and locally throughout the world in stake and ward conferences as “Prophets, Seers, and Revelators”.
President David O. McKay spoke of a Socialist-Communist Conspiracy.
“… the fight against the Godless socialist-communist conspiracy …”
Why did he use that awful word conspiracy?

Have other Prophets, Seers, and Revelators said anything about it?
Wikipedia continues:
During the Cold War, Ezra Taft Benson, an apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), repeatedly described communism as a secret combination. As church president, Benson stated that “a secret combination that seeks to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries is increasing its evil influence and control over America and the entire world.”
Another LDS Church leader, Bruce R. McConkie of the Council of the Seventy, claimed, “Reliable modern reports describe their existence among gangsters, as part of the governments of communist countries, in some labor organizations, and even in some religious groups.”
LDS Church apostle M. Russell Ballard described secret combinations as including “gangs, drug cartels, and organized crime families… They have secret signs and code words. They participate in secret rites and initiation ceremonies. Among their purposes are to ‘murder, and plunder, and steal, and commit whoredoms and all manner of wickedness, contrary to the laws of their country and also the laws of their God.'”
LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley compared modern terrorists to the “Gadianton robbers, a vicious, oath-bound, and secret organization bent on evil and destruction.”
Okay then, what has the current President said:
“In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost.
In like manner, what will your seeking open for you? What wisdom do you lack? What do you feel an urgent need to know or understand? Follow the example of the Prophet Joseph. Find a quiet place where you can regularly go. Humble yourself before God. Pour out your heart to your Heavenly Father. Turn to Him for answers and for comfort.
Pray in the name of Jesus Christ about your concerns, your fears, your weaknesses—yes, the very longings of your heart. And then listen! Write the thoughts that come to your mind. Record your feelings and follow through with actions that you are prompted to take. As you repeat this process day after day, month after month, year after year, you will “grow into the principle of revelation.”

So someone speaks of a conspiracy and you want to know whether it is true or fake.
Just follow President Nelson’s advise. Seek personal revelation on the matter.
“…by the power of the Holy ghost, ye may know the truth of all things.”-Moroni 10:5
And speaking to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints,
Do you believe the Book of Mormon to be true?
Do you believe that those men are Prophets, Seers, and Revelators of God?
Do you accept the book of the Doctrine and Covenants as scripture from God?

Doctrine and Covenants 89:
4 Behold, verily, thus saith the Lord unto you: In consequence of evils and designs which do and will exist in the hearts of conspiring men in the last days, I have warned you, and forewarn you, by giving unto you this word of wisdom by revelation.
Doctrine and Covenants 123:
13 Therefore, that we should waste and wear out our lives in bringing to light all the hidden things of darkness, wherein we know them; and they are truly manifest from heaven—
14 These should then be attended to with great earnestness.
Secret combinations, conspiracies, exist and their doings exist.
We should not dismiss them as fake by the term “conspiracy theories”.
Read the book and articles and then pray when someone presents something you think to be a “conspiracy theory”. Then you’ll know whether it’s fake or not.
