Comments

I just spent one and a half hours reading through and deleting all but two of 2,259 comments posted to my website pending file.   I sent them all to the spam folder and then emptied it.

Some were blatant ads, some straight forward links, some made no sense, some were in German, some in Russian, some in squares, whatever language that is supposed to be, but most were generic statements applied with no thought  to indiscriminate  pages at random by some computer software.

The one that I approved was from a hosting company but was applicable to the page it was on.

It told of Abraham Lincoln and was on The Lincoln’s Ghost Returns 2010 page.

The other got lost somewhere but i wrote it’s point down where I could keep it.

My point: if you want a back link from me, read the post or page and make your own real comment.

Comments-Real or Not?

Posted by on 14 Mar 2016 | Tagged as: blog

3/13/2016

I’ve been reviewing my over 10K comment files at this website the last two or three weeks.
I’m down to around 6K left to look at.

Last week I actually got two real comments from a man I know who lives in South East Asia.

One man suggested I post about all of my social media sites.
Seemed like a real comment but all those things are linked to on my home page in the link column so why make a post about them?

One comment tonight, asked if the comments sounded like they came from brain dead people.

Most are trash generated by machines or software that has made the sellers of it rich
at the expense of lost money, sales, and hopes of the now poor website owners who wanted to somehow automate their advertising.

One comment asked if I get hacked alot. One asked if palgerism is a problem.

These sound fairly real at first clance but after seeing the same message word for word in other comments on other pages,
you can soon see that they are machine generated too.

Some start out saying words like “your blog is fastidious”.
“Hi, its fastidious piece of writing on the topic of media print, we all understand media is a great source of data.
Also visit my webpage :: mopile applications”
No one talks like that. Must be a computer generated translation.

Some asked how I built the site.
It says right on it thtat it is built on WordPress.
A real person would have seen that.

There are a great many drug, prescription medicine, supplement ads in the comments. All at cheaper prices than be had elsewhere.
Which is true. I used to have an online prescription site.
But to put these in the comments on an unrelated sit by a machine is counter productive.
They sell Viagra or some other drug. some in a single line comment others in longs lists.
Why would I ever go to them or give them a back links?

Back links may be important but a thousand such links from sites no one has or will ever hear about,
aren’t worth as much as one good back link from a major company, internet provider such as Google,
or major online presence like a “dot gov”.
Two weeks ago I spent 2 & 1/2 hours one evening deleting over 3500 prescription ads all in Greek.
I don’t read or speak Greek and even find the alphabet impossible to read.
Why would a back link company put such ads on my site?
The buyer was cheated.
I’ve never even had a site hit from Greece.
A waste of my time and the advertisers money.

Here are more examples of the kind of spam I’ve received.

“No matter if some one searches for his vital
thing, therefore he/she wants to be available that in detail,
therefore that thing is maintained over here. شركة مكافحة حشرات بالرياض

Not medicine here but a craigslist from where ever as the location is different in different comments.

Or this comment start:
“Hey there this is kind of of off topic but I was wondering….”

example:
“Hey! I know this is kind of off-topic however I had
to ask. Does building a well-established blog
like yours take a large amount of work? I’m brand new
to running a blog however I do write in my diary
every day. I’d like to start a blog so I can share my experience and views online.
Please let me know if you have any recommendations or tips for new aspiring blog owners.
Thankyou!”

No one talks likes that.

Then they ask advise about blogging, hackers, html code, or how to earn money from blogging.
Every comment is the same. the chances of multiple real people ever saying this same thing are astronomical.

Comments suggesting link exchanges are similar.

Here is a often used one:
“My spouse and I absolutely love your blog and find nearly all
of your post’s to be exactly what I’m looking for.
Would you offer guest writers to write content for you?
I wouldn’t mind composing a post or elaborating on a number of the subjects you write with regards to here.
Again, awesome web site!”

All of these automated comments are the same and placed on the Policy page, rate schedule or some other odd page on my site
that no real person would read and comment on.

Or they are from the same author such as “Mark” “Stefan” “Sandra” etc.
or from the same company name such as back links, etc.

Some have nothing to do with anything:
“My coder is trying to convince me to move to .net
from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the costs.
But he’s trying none the less. I’ve been using Movable-type on various websites for about a year and am
concerned about switching to another platform. I have heard very good things about blogengine.net.

Is there a way I can import all my wordpress content into it?
Any kind of help would be really appreciated!

Have a look at my web blog :: mopile applications”

Or:
“If you would like to improve your experience just keep visiting this web page and be updated with the hottest information posted
here.

Here is my blog post – mopile applications”(and some person’s name)

Or:
“WOW just what I was searching for. Came here by searching for Home” on the policy page.

Here is one that hit my comment review box in December 2015, I’m just now deleted this backlink trash.
“Hey there. Im from Anonymous. I am a doxxor. I have doxxed the bloodlines of a group of families. I have traced them to 4400 BC
and have detailed all of their plans, lineage, blood type, and many many other things.
No one has ever lived long enough to do this before. No one has ever released this much info, this detailed info.
Please look at htp:/saianarchy.com to see a sneak preview. Release on friday december 18…dont miss it! It will be up as long as I’m alive.”
( I’ve changed the link so as to save you from such garbage)
The next comment from someone else was a word perfect copy of it.

Or how about this:
“Firstly, you might have two techniques for finding employment: be approached by an employer, or approach them via either networking or direct application against work advert.
The other cool feature of Google+ is Google Hangouts which can be essentially a face-to-face video communication feature allowing
friends to video conference. The more +1s a website or article gets, the
bigger it will likely be ranked on Google.”
Which has nothing to do with anything.

Some even go into long articles that make no sense what soever then have the links at the end.
The back link company was most likely trying to fool the spam filters on different site by jumbling the words up.
Many seem to be real comments about my site but when i look at the page they were posted on, it become apparent that a person
didn’t make it because the comment has nothing to do with that particular page. Comments like, “just the information I was looking for.”
Oh really?

Example:
“Great blog here! Also your website loads up very fast!
What web host are you using? Can I get your affiliate link on your host?

I desire my site loaded up as quickly as yours lol

Also visit my site villa prices in las vegas,(name)” (the name is linked to the person’s site)

Looks okay at first glance but when hundreds of others show up saying exactly the same thing excepting
for the the link name because it is someone else’s machine generated lead-back link.

Then there are the Seo ads.
“You could be getting more hits…”
“May I make some suggestions…”
etc.

Well, it’s late and I’m getting tired.
I’ve put 376 into the spam folder to delete this session. Only 300 pages more to go though, 5,827 more comments to review.
If I find ten in all that are real comments by real people I will be surprised.

Oh, spam machines stop wasting your clients money sending this trash to me.

Until next time.

Jay

(Note spelling errors or non capitalization in the quoted comments are in the comments that way.)

Purpose of this site & Comments

Posted by on 19 Jan 2014 | Tagged as: blog

I’ve not been able to get into my back office for 4 months so couldn’t keep up making posts or reviewing comments.

I moderate comments before approving.

What I’ve learned about comments is that there is a huge amount of  software available to automatically place comments anywhere just in an attempt to get backlinks and to advertise.  None of these posts match the page they are posted to as seen by comments like: “great post. I’ve been looking for this information” on my contact page.

Why? because nothing was read. It was generated by a robot purchased to get traffic, sales, backlinks, etc.  Which cost the buyer and are of little value except that it makes the seller of that software wealthy.

Backlinks are important but backlinking from just any site isn’t necessarily good.  You want reputable, well known sites to backlink to your site, such as a biggy on the net or a “dot gov” or “dot edu”.  Those have clout. Those will give your site clout too.

Back to the comments.

Want to be approved by me?

1. Read the post and make a meaningful comment

2. Say something nice

3. Don’t advertise

4. Have a real email address and a real web address

5. Your site sells something good

6. Hope I have the time to review the real comments after sifting through the trash

It’s that simple!

One comment was in German.  That’s fine. I speak and read German.  Comments in languages other than English and German and sometimes Dutch, which is similar to the other two, I generally delete though i have translated some in the past only to learn that they are fake comments.

That  German comment was from a guy saying he saw no purpose in my site.

Of course there is a purpose.

The purpose is to promote me.

To promote my voice, speaking and singing, my acting, my books, videos, ideas, and knowledge on a number of subjects such as building construction and maintenance.   the joke about experts may cause a laugh, but people have expertise in many different areas making them an expert on certain subjects.  I have such knowledge about certain subjects.

I started teaching drawing at age 14, later I taught German(still do), I’ve taught many employees about roofing and other building construction and repairs as my father taught me.

There are folks who love my speaking voice, my singing, my acting, my repair-maintenance  work, my poetry, my books, my ideas, my knowledge, the things I sell, good things I’ve found on the net or elsewhere.

Does this site have a purpose?

You bet it does!

Let me wrap up.

Please don’t waste my time and yours with automated comment software to0 my site or with fake or nasty comments.

Come and see what I know, what I sell, what I share.

You will find much to admire.

Well, I’ll catch you next time.
