A political question for all.
Who do city council persons represent?
Not who are they supposed to represent, but who do they represent?
County commissioners?
State legislators?
Governors?
Federal Congressmen and women?
Federal Senators?
President of the USA?
Think before you answer and be truthful about who is represented.
Some answers:
Steve Swapp It depends on which city council you’re speaking of, I suppose. For example, I believe that property developers are strongly represented by some of the people on our current Washington County Commission and on the water board. We really need to choose different commissioners. Don’t keep the incumbents!!

(Johnathan said)One man today said he felt the town councils represented the state legislature or the govenor but diffinately not the town citizens.
May 23
Sat. 24th on Who represents who?Betty said, “they are supposed to represent the citizens but they represent those with the most money.” Then she amended her statement with “Developers”.
May 24
From the short survey the most prevalent responses are:
Property developers, money, state or federal over local.
What do you think?
I attended a council meeting in Ivins on May 22, 2014.
On the agenda was a public hearing about a proposed development.
Part of the proposal was to make a high backed curb on the now dirt farm road of 600 West.
The two property owners along that road and several other owners near the proposed deveopment were in opposition to that and wanted roadsides like are present in the Kayenta deveopment.
The council listened to the town staff and not the owners.
Ron said, “I like curbs”, Steve said, “they are clean”, Geroge said, “they are safe”, Cheyne made no comment but having curbed his street on his own and been a major proponent of the roads and curbs installed in the historic townsite had proven his stance on the issue.
The high backed curb was approved by a vote of 4. ( the one woman on the coucil was not in attendance)
My question is,
“Who did they represent?”
The constiuents who were opposed to the curbs?
The town staff(i.e. building department)?
Themselves?
The developer?
The Major? Who said, “the developer wants a decision tonight”.
Earlier, Ron had said he’d like to table the issue until he could go and inspect the site.
He was talked out of this wise decision.
What form of government do we have?
A representative one?
If so, who are the represented?
What do you think?

“I already bought your show.”
Yesterday another person said to me when asked to consider purchasing
the 2014 audio cd, “I already bought your Video.”
Some people get confused and think that the Lincoln Ghost shows are all the
same.
I’ll try to explain the differentness and uniqueness of each show.
Lincoln’s Ghost 2009
How did a common laborer with virtually no education become a captain in
the militia, a surveyor, a store owner, a state legislator, a US congressman,
a great orator and finally the President of the United States?
What made him so special and that all possible?
Learn more about this unusual and great man from the one man show by
Jay Beacham.Feb. 12, 2009 show of Lincoln’s Ghost by Jay Beacham at the
St. George Pioneer Opera House.
In this presentation, Lincoln’s Ghost gives and overview of the life of Abe Lincoln.
Touching on most aspects of the life of the 16th President. It includes the famed
Gettysburg Address.
Lincoln’s Ghost Returns the new show for 2010.“Fellow citizens, we cannot
escape history. We will be remembered in spite of our selves.”
So said Mr. Abraham Lincoln. This performance goes over speeches and
much sage advise from the 16th president of the United States of America.
On February 12, 2010 at the St. George Pioneer Opera House Jay Beacham
presented his one man show Lincoln’s Ghost Returns.
In this presentation, Lincoln’s Ghost quotes from and reads from the political
speeches, including the 1838 speech, and from his political writings giving Lincoln’s
opinions on what makes for good government.
October of 2010, Ghost Tours in Santa Clara, Utah featured Lincoln’s Ghost.
He told about his experiences with deaths in his life, some of it in verse.
The 2011 show was a matinee on Feb, 12 at the St. George, Utah Pioneer Opera
house which was an expansion of the short five minutes Ghost Tours talk.
Thoughts on Life goes over some of Lincoln’s ancestry and the deaths of friends
and family members and others, and how these happenings affected him.
He wrote verse to express his feelings and recited the poetry of others to
express these feelings.
He also had fun with poetry.
One fine example is “The Wild Bear Chase” written by him.
Lincoln’s Ghost Tells Stories-2014 is an all new show featuring stories by the
16th President and how he used stories.
Sara Jane Lippincott said of Lincoln:
“I really think that Mr. Lincoln’s propensity for storytelling has been exaggerated by his enemies. I had once the honor of conversing with him, or rather of hearing him converse, for several minutes, and in all that time he only told four little stories.”
Carl Schurz, a Union general first met Lincoln on a train: ”I soon felt as if I had know him all my life and we had very long been close friends…He interspersed our conversation with all sorts of quaint stories, each of which had a witty point applicable to the subject at hand.”
Mr. Rutledge said, “Mr. Lincoln is a great storyteller…a rare political talent.”
Lincoln’s Ghost told wonderful stories on Feb. 22, 2014 at the Opera House in St. George, Utah.
Lincoln played which musical instruments?
Had a Duel?
Learn things you never knew about the 16th President of the USA.
Laugh and cry and be intrigued by a murder mystery written by Abe.

I’ve been with My World Plus for several years and the coupons, discount card, and cash back programs were great and at first the savings paid for the $19.95 a month fee. And I had 7 cool websites to boot. My daughter was able to use the coupons and my older brother too. And every now and again I’d get a check in the mail. It wasn’t much because I never did get anyone signed under me. But with the savings and the small check it was worth it.
Then something happened. A notice that the coupons were no longer available.
I inquired and got some timely responses. I’ll include them all. Then tell what I did.

Had to go to bed last night to be up early.
The Sunrise Service was at Anasazi Valley, a Indian Cultural Center.
I and the lady organizer narrated the Easter story, A man, Wilford Ivers, played the flute, and another, Rick Nelson, sang two songs, one of his composition and the other by a local woman, both songs about the Saviour.
Colleen Lloyd sang her composition of “Oh Precious (Saviour)Lord” and at the end sang and taught the crowd “Amasing Grace” in Cherokee, her ancestry.
A Kanosh Piute Indian, Ralph Pickovitt (Red Cloud), told of his life and Indian ways and sang a farewell song used at funerals in Piute.
A Bill Nebeker spoke About Christ’s sacrifice.
That was about it.
Hope you all have a blessed Easter day.

I’ve not been able to get into my back office for 4 months so couldn’t keep up making posts or reviewing comments.
I moderate comments before approving.
What I’ve learned about comments is that there is a huge amount of software available to automatically place comments anywhere just in an attempt to get backlinks and to advertise. None of these posts match the page they are posted to as seen by comments like: “great post. I’ve been looking for this information” on my contact page.
Why? because nothing was read. It was generated by a robot purchased to get traffic, sales, backlinks, etc. Which cost the buyer and are of little value except that it makes the seller of that software wealthy.
Backlinks are important but backlinking from just any site isn’t necessarily good. You want reputable, well known sites to backlink to your site, such as a biggy on the net or a “dot gov” or “dot edu”. Those have clout. Those will give your site clout too.
Back to the comments.
Want to be approved by me?
1. Read the post and make a meaningful comment
2. Say something nice
3. Don’t advertise
4. Have a real email address and a real web address
5. Your site sells something good
6. Hope I have the time to review the real comments after sifting through the trash
It’s that simple!
One comment was in German. That’s fine. I speak and read German. Comments in languages other than English and German and sometimes Dutch, which is similar to the other two, I generally delete though i have translated some in the past only to learn that they are fake comments.
That German comment was from a guy saying he saw no purpose in my site.
Of course there is a purpose.
The purpose is to promote me.
To promote my voice, speaking and singing, my acting, my books, videos, ideas, and knowledge on a number of subjects such as building construction and maintenance. the joke about experts may cause a laugh, but people have expertise in many different areas making them an expert on certain subjects. I have such knowledge about certain subjects.
I started teaching drawing at age 14, later I taught German(still do), I’ve taught many employees about roofing and other building construction and repairs as my father taught me.
There are folks who love my speaking voice, my singing, my acting, my repair-maintenance work, my poetry, my books, my ideas, my knowledge, the things I sell, good things I’ve found on the net or elsewhere.
Does this site have a purpose?
You bet it does!
Let me wrap up.
Please don’t waste my time and yours with automated comment software to0 my site or with fake or nasty comments.
Come and see what I know, what I sell, what I share.
You will find much to admire.
Well, I’ll catch you next time.

Since September I have not been able to get into my wordpress back office but was being logged into one that hasn’t existed for several years.
Resulting in me not being able to edit or anything else. No blog posts no link changes, nothing.
Today David M Cullett at Godaddy was able to help me resolve the problem.
We uninstalled wordpress 3.8 and eliminated the directory that kept sending me to the wrong backoffice.
Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused anyone.
I’m glad it is fixed as it was very frustrating to me.

I put a listing on Ebay for Devil’s Claw Seed Pods and posted the ad on my Face Book. A friend asked:
Why would anyone possibly want these? I don’t mean that to be rude at all, I am just curious if they are good for anything.
My answer:
Jay Beacham A lady school teacher bought some for Christmas tree ornaments in Dec. and they are used for other crafts. They are a companion plant for tomatoes drawing bugs away from the tomato plants.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harpagophytum
Harpagophytum, also called grapple plant, wood spider and most commonly devil’s claw, is a genus of plants in thesesame family, native to southern Africa. It owes to common name devil’s claw to the peculiar appearance of its hooked fruit. The plant’s large tuberous roots are used medicinally to reduce pain and fever, and to stimulate digestion. European colonists brought devil’s claw home where it was used to treat arthritis.

I read this book when I was 16 or 17. You’ll like it no matter what your age is. http://lnkd.in/bCnju9Y I found a copy in the trash can in my Vocational Agriculture(FFA) classroom. I grabbed it out and read it. What a great motivational book. I wondered why anyone would throw it out. But I was glad they did. It helped shape my young life for the better. Why call a book “I Dare You’? and And who was this guy William H. Danforth who wrote it? That’s what this essay is all about, so please continue reading. William H. Danforth (September 10, 1870 – December 24, 1955) founded Ralston-Purina in St. Louis, Missouri in 1894. He was a co-founder of the American Youth Foundation (AYF) Ralston’s checkerboard logo evolved from a personal development concept Danforth put forth in his book “I Dare You” in which he used a checkerboard to explain it. Danforth proposed that four key components in life need to be in balance. In the illustration, “Physical” was on the left, “Mental” on top, “Social” on right and “Religious” on the bottom. To be healthy, you needed the four squares to stay in balance and one area was not to develop at expense of the other. The concept became intertwined with the company in 1921 when it began selling feed that was pressed in cubes called “checkers.” He dared people to be their best in those 4 areas of life. He had exercises to help in each area. I was big into his breathing and other health exercises. He did them daily and worked until almost the end of his 85 years as a healthy younger than his age guy, advising others that they could too. Nestle PURINA has written a fine history of the sickly boy who became the healthiest man around. How? All from a dare by a school teacher to become healthy. http://www.nestlepurina.com/danforth.aspx Here are some highlights but you should go and read it all. “The “dare” idea served him well as was witnessed by his success in pioneering the commercial feed industry, and in being his Company’s active Board Chairman and a tireless traveler and leader of youth until his death on Christmas Eve 1955 at the age of 85.” ” Mr. Danforth made no secret that he took his health seriously. He would proudly relate that he had never lost a day at the office on account of illness. He walked his mile a day because it made him feel better, and his rule was to get eight hours of sleep a night with the windows open. He ate moderately and kept his weight down.” I used to walk briskly to the street corner and back nightly as a young man, I don’t now because I live on the corner. But when I return home from a hard day at construction work and the dog goes for a walk, he most often sees to it that I get more. I still try the open window unless it is really cold outside. Weigh what I did or less than in High School but am much slower at 63 than even at 50 when I could still work circles around men 30 years my junior. “ For all of Mr. Danforth’s heavy executive schedule over the years and his “daring” for high stakes in the business world, he avoided letting business crowd out a happy balance of living.” I let bills and business often crowd out the other things in life. Maybe I need to read the book again. ” In 1927, Mr. and Mrs. Danforth established the Danforth Foundation as a national educational philanthropy. The Danforth Foundation has extended help in the form of fellowships or scholarships to many college students and teachers. In addition, the Foundation has helped to build 24 meditation chapels on college campuses and in hospitals.” He served in the 1st WW “ the Third Division, American Expeditionary Forces.” And brought the word “Chow” for meals back to use in his feed business. ” In a 1955 Monday Morning Message, while he was in his 84th year, he pointed out the significance to him of some of these unchanging fundamentals. “Some folks are continually making changes,” he said. “I flatter myself that I like new ventures and new experiences. But when it comes to fundamentals I believe in finding the right foundations and building on them. I’m a poor changer. For instance, here are some of the fundamentals I have never changed: I have been a church member for over 60 years; married to one wife for over 60 years; a lodge member for over 60 years; a Purina man for over 60 years.
“Four-Square principles have been pillars of strength in my life. I have never had cause to change. The longer I live with such fundamentals, the more valuable they become.”
WELL I DARE YOU TO READ THIS BOOK! http://lnkd.in/bCnju9Y
